Business consulting

Engineering judgement for SG businesses

Independent software consulting for Singapore SMEs and early-stage startups. Architecture reviews, MVP builds, technical due diligence, and fractional CTO engagements. Run by one working software engineer, not an agency.

Who this is for

SG businesses that need engineering judgement, not a vendor pitch

You are running a Singapore business with a software problem. Maybe you have an existing product that needs a tougher look. Maybe you need to ship an MVP without hiring a full team. Maybe you are about to acquire a SaaS and need someone who can read its codebase. I help with the judgement calls that determine whether the next six months go well or not.

Architecture review

1 to 2 weeks

An external read on your current system. Where it will scale, where it will break, which decisions are worth revisiting before the next phase. Output: a written report with prioritised recommendations.

  • Code and infrastructure audit
  • Identification of single points of failure
  • Migration and refactor sequencing
  • Hiring or restructuring implications

MVP build

4 to 12 weeks

Shipping a real product fast. Boring tech stack, clean architecture, you own the code. No agency markup, no offshore handoff, no surprise scope creep.

  • Scoping and milestone definition
  • Full-stack development
  • Cloud deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Documentation so your next hire can take over

Technical due diligence

1 to 3 weeks

Before you acquire, invest in, or merge with a SaaS. Read the codebase, evaluate the team, surface the risks the founder will not volunteer.

  • Codebase quality assessment
  • Architecture and scaling analysis
  • Tech debt and remediation cost estimates
  • Founder and team capability read

Fractional CTO

Ongoing, monthly retainer

When you need senior engineering judgement on tap without hiring a full-time CTO. Weekly calls, decision support, hiring help, occasional hands-on work.

  • Weekly leadership cadence
  • Architecture and hiring decisions
  • Vendor evaluations and contract review
  • Crisis support when production breaks

How I work

Independent, direct, and honest about scope

No agency layer. You talk to me, not a sales rep, account manager, or junior offshore developer. Every conversation is with the person who will write the code or call the architectural shots.

Boring tech by default. I default to well-documented, widely-supported stacks: TypeScript on Node, Python with FastAPI, Postgres, AWS or GCP for cloud. If your situation needs something more specific I will say so, but I will not push you toward a stack just because it is on my CV.

Fixed scope when possible, time-and-materials when not. For well-defined work like MVP builds and architecture reviews I quote fixed-price. For exploratory or open-ended work, hourly is honest. I tell you in the first conversation which is which.

You own the code. No vendor lock-in, no "the source is in our private repo" surprise. Everything ships to a repo you control. Documentation is part of the deliverable, not an upsell.
